MO Supreme Court hears death row case
The state Supreme Court has been asked if a prison inmate's questionable testimony could justify a death sentence.
The new lawyer for inmate Michael D. Taylor says Taylor's original lawyer did not go far enough in discrediting the testimony of another inmate that Taylor was told to pretend he was mentally ill to help with his defense.
Taylor was in prison for life for the rape and murder of a Washington County woman. He was convicted of killing another inmate and sentenced to death.
Michael Taylor is the second Michael Taylor who is under a death sentence in Missouri. The other Michael Taylor faces death for the kidnaping, rape, and murder of a Kansas City teenager.
