KidsCast will be awarding prizes every month for essay submissions written by Missouri students.  All you have to do to win is check out the months essay topic, write 100 words or more on that topic, and send it in by mail or computer.  You will be notified if you have won a prize.  Even if you dont win a prize, your entry will be presented here at KidsCastRadio.com. You may also get to be part of our weekly radio show airing on stations across Missouri.

Categories:

• September: Safe Schools - Write about one thing that would make your school safer.
• October: Alcohol - Tell us what you see in life that makes you want to avoid alcohol.
• November: Friendships - Tell us about one friend who has a positive impact on you, and why.
• December: Smoking - Explain what you think smoking would make you feel like physically.
• January:  Drugs - Explain how you think drugs could make your personality change.
• February: Safe Communities - Tell us about one project you could start or participate in to make your community safer.
• March: Role Models - Describe one of your role models by writing about 3 of their positive characteristics.
• April:  Making Positive Choices - Tell us about a healthy choice you've made recently that made you feel good about yourself.
• May: Healthy Bodies - Tell us about one food and one activity that make you feel healthy.

Eligibility: Any student in 1st through 6th grade is eligible to win a prize.  

Rules: All submissions must be written by a single person.  The submission must include the writers first name, age, address, telephone number, and school they attend. Personal information will only be used to contact winners or those chosen to participate on the radio show.  The only information published on the KidsCast website will be the persons first name and school.

Deadlines: All stories must be submitted by computer or postmarked by the last day of the month for each category listed above.

Prizes: Each essay winner will be awarded a prize not to exceed the value of $100.  The prize will be sent to the winner through U.S. mail.  There will also be at least one grand prizewinner chosen on a date yet to be determined.  That person will win a brand new computer system.  The grand prizewinner will be chosen from among all the essay submissions received.
